Holiday Marketing for Utah Retailers: The 6-Week Countdown
Strategy · 6 min read · 2024-11-05 · by Redline Design
The season that decides the year
For a lot of retailers along the Wasatch Front, the stretch from early November through Christmas Eve is 30–40 percent of annual revenue. Shoppers are going to spend — at City Creek, in Sugar House, on Provo Center Street, or online at 11pm. The only question is whether they find you. Here is the countdown we run with retail clients.
Week 1: Fix the boring stuff first
Update holiday hours on your Google Business Profile (nothing kills a sale like “closed” when you are open), confirm your site loads fast on a phone, and make sure tap-to-call and directions work. Free, unglamorous, and worth more than any ad.
Week 2: Warm up your email list
Your list is the cheapest revenue you own. Send a “holiday preview” — what is coming, when sales start, gift ideas by price. No list? Start collecting at checkout today; even 200 local emails move product. (Our email service builds these flows to run themselves.)
Week 3: Lock your offers
One strong offer beats five weak ones. Decide now: the doorbuster, the bundle, the gift card promo. Put real deadlines on them — Utah shoppers procrastinate like everyone else, and deadlines are what convert procrastinators.
Week 4: Turn on local ads
Geo-targeted Google and Meta ads within your real draw radius — 5 to 15 miles for most storefronts. Small Business Saturday deserves its own creative; Utahns show up for local when you remind them.
Week 5: Post like you mean it
Gift guides, behind-the-scenes, staff picks, real product photos. Answer every DM fast — December DMs are purchase intent, not chit-chat.
Week 6: Win the last mile
After the shipping cutoffs, you have an advantage Amazon cannot match: same-day pickup. Shout it everywhere — profile posts, site banner, ads. “Buy online, pick up on Main Street today” closes the final week strong.
